Behind the Studio

A woman with blue eyes and long blonde hair is looking in a mirror, smiling, and resting her chin on her hand. She is wearing a white sleeveless top and a silver wristwatch. The mirror has a black frame, and the background outside the mirror appears to be a blurred outdoor scene with greenery.

Natacha Holbourn, Founder of Quiddity Design Studios

Born and raised in the UK, I’m a Hong Kong based artist and designer.

My journey into art has been a circular one.  It started with a deep passion as a child, raised in a household that celebrated creativity, my mother always sewing a new dress, my father painting (usually motorbikes) and both of them with a serious photography habit.  Art was just around me.  School holidays were spent in the darkroom and everywhere our family went so did heavy camera equipment. Life, however, had a different path for me and I left art behind at the age of 18 to focus on finance and economics, which eventually brought me to Hong Kong in 2001.

Hong Kong was eye opening in so many ways. I was captivated by the architecture, the nature, the people and the cultural opportunities that exist here.  After a while I found myself constantly looking for ways to reintroduce creativity into my life - I took courses in photography, floral design and fashion while holding down a corporate job but it wasn’t until much later that I finally stumbled across Interior Design.  It was during this training that I found I could lose myself for hours in the intricacies of design and colour theory, but I also picked up a pencil and sketched again for the first time in years. It wasn’t, however, until a retreat in Thailand and an unexpected art jam that I reconnected with a paint brush and I finally felt as though part of me had come back to life. The path to expertise is a long and imperfect one but I feel incredibly lucky to be able to share this next part of my journey with you.

Quiddity Design Studios is my creative home, inviting you to explore my artwork, interior design services and projects and other design initiatives that I work on.

What Sets MY designs apart?

A collection of black-and-white photographs, some of which are torn around the edges, displayed upright in a wooden box. The photos depict various individuals, possibly historical or vintage images.

It’s the ability to KNOW my clients such that I can give them what they want but couldn’t imagine.

A brick wall with some missing and peeling sections, adjacent to a water-filled canal at the bottom.

It’s the ability to UNDERSTAND the history and create authentic solutions.

Overhead view of a marina with boats docked along the shoreline and a small boat floating on the calm water, surrounded by trees and greenery.

It’s the ability to EMPATHISE with the natural world and PRIORITISE its needs.

Shadow of a fence cast on a cobblestone sidewalk.

It’s the ability to PUSH boundaries.

It’s the ability to LISTEN to your heart.

At Quiddity Design Studios, we believe that successful design is the fusion between creativity, understanding and empathy
